The subject of this section is a matter of great importance, that is, health. Everyone knows where to go in his own country in case of illness or accident, and is aware of the forms of treatment and care which are covered by the Social Security Sytem or a private insurance policy. Furthermore, he has easy access to all this information. The situation is, however, rather more complex when we are on holiday. For this reason, in this section on "Health Abroad", we shall look at the differnt situations in which a foreigner might find himself in Spain, at the various rights which he is entitled to in these situations, and any personal or formal requirements to be fulfilled in order to be entitled to them. Finally, we shall indicate the courses of action available to the consumer on holiday or staying in Spain, depending on his situation, when he falls ill if he does not receive the appropriate medical attention.
