Introduction

The problems change with the times. In 1990 Santander held a Festival of Cinema dedicated to Consumerism and Quality of life. Competing in the official section was a short German film produced by Pavel Schnabel, titled: "Eine Türkische Hochzeit". The film tells the problems of a young man from East Turkey who risks travelling without the respective visa in order to surprise his brother on his wedding day in Frankfurt. All he has to do is get past passport control but it is not possible. The film, on a humorous and satirical note, obliges the bride and groom to celebrate the wedding at the airport and to see the brother from the other side of the separating glass.

The same year another short film was shown titled "Grosse Sprünge Brauchen Zeit " in which a young Turk, in order to buy a motor-bike, had to seek a loan from a private credit company. He is unable to pay back the loan and he ends up in debt and without the bike. The film provides interesting advice on how to act more sensibly and intelligently on future occasions.
